Born in Würzburg/Germany, Hubert Klüpfel stayed in the city of his birth until he started to study physics. He finished his studies at the university of Stony Brook/New York/USA (Department of Physics). For his doctors thesis he returned to Germany and worked in the group Physics of Transport and Traffic (Prof. Dr. Michael Schreckenberg) at the University of Duisburg (meanwhile named University Duisburg-Essen).
Within the German research project BYPASS he worked on the topic of evacuating passenger ships, simulating these processes and establishing a new IMO guideline.
Since 2003, Hubert Klüpfel develops simulation models and software programs for BAW (Federal Waterways Engineering and Research Insitute). The goal of the project is to improve the traffic of inland navigation. |

Tim Meyer-König grew up in the Netherlands and studied naval architecture at the former University of Duisburg. Within his studies he developped a first model for the simulation of evacuations onboard passenger ships. As a result, the research project BYPASS was developed which he accompanied to improve the simulation model.
Since TraffGo was founded, Tim Meyer-König leads the division of pedestrian traffic and manages further research projects like SimRoP (loading and unloading of ferries). |
